The value of Branding your business

Branding your business is a marketing term that quite simply defines or identifys your company with a set of shared values.   Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks Coffee empire adds that “your company needs to make and emotional connection with people outside of your product”.  In his case, the definition refers to outside his coffee.

The needs and desires of your customers are what drive your company’s growth.  Finding the answers to those questions requires a purposeful plan and exercise.   A good business owner or manager has an awareness to customer comments, trends and spending habits but a dedicated and timely effort to secure those answers lends more support to your analysis and conclusions.

The one constant expectation customers will seek until they find it is integrity.  Nothing will sink your business faster that a reputation for lacking integrity when dealing with customers, vendors or employees.  Consequently the best foundation for branding your company to start with is your reputation for integrity.

Once you have determined what wording best defines the essence of your company’s values, you can write a “mission statement” that further defines your company from an overall standpoint.  Incorporating the values of your branding values, you can readily remind yourself, your employees, your customers and vendors of what you stand for in the marketplace.

If you need a good reference to start your thinking process for this exercise, read the Gospels and note how Jesus branded his company.  As you read His life story, you will see the Godly principles he operated in all the time.  History will repeat for you as it did for Jesus in that you will not be able to please everyone as hard as you may try.  But each and every day that reality will give you a chance to build the character and brand of not only your company but you too.  Afterall, the company is you just as Jesus was and is the church.

When you have your branding identified and your mission statement written, be sure and write it so that all your company can read it, understand it and run with it.  That document can become a constant reminder for all involved in your operation that your branding value (reputation) is only as good as your actions.   This platform for your company’s business behavior can be a very effective evangelistic tool. So go, spread the Gospel, and only use words if you have to!

Networking, Goal Setting, and Fellowship

I attended a seminar about Achieving your business goals last night. It was good.

They had several speakers.

Deb Payne Lighthouse Coaching – Business and Life Coach.  She had a very light and fun talk about stretching you and helping you to go to the next level.

James Lee Vann- Ensign Technologies LLC.  James did a great job explaining the different kinds of social media, how it came about and gave examples of how to use it.  I believe he is going to do a class on it because there was a lot of interest.

Marlene Chism – Corporate trainer and Author of, “Success is a Given”.  Marlene did a great job talking about the principles of her new book and how to  stop the  drama.  Drama is any obstacle to your peace and prosperity.

Shelly Rice – Chocolate Blues and Business.  Shelly put this event together and did a great job.  Thanks friend.  You really should check out her events they are a good source of networking and lots of fun.

So, I got to do some networking and learn some new ideas about goal setting and marketing.   Best yet, I got to spend the night with my wife who came with me.  Rich and Vana Forster also attended and afterwards we went for coffee and got caught up.

Made a long day, but it was good!

Ready for 2009!

The holiday season was so busy, and the new year has not slowed down much. I am sorry I have just not been in a blogging mood. I am now ready to get back at it. I have been working on my plans for the year and setting goals. My goal is to blog every other day.

I have been having some great things happening lately and some divine meetings. I met today with a new contact and had a great time. I met last week with several new folks and had awesome visits with them. The really good news is that each of these meetings are going to produce something great.
I am pumped and ready for 2009!

Social networking… Oh my!

You can woot! woot! with twitter, send it out to all with ping, be linkedin, join facebook, and many others; what an awesome tool!

This is all new to me.  I have been twittering for a couple of months but in the last couple of weeks I have signed up for facebook, linkedIn, and ping.   It is time consuming to set up, but I had a friend tell me today that he has made 18 new connections this week alone from Linkedin.   I had a guy tell me yesterday that he has generated over 5 million dollars in revenue due to Linkedin.

I need this!

I am going to attend a class all about social networking the end of October and I am very excited.

Anointed to build relationships

Anointed and relationships are the terms I have heard for the last several weeks. 

We have had several divine appointments that have been absolutely incredible.  I have gotten several emails and newsletter and all have had these messages.

Do you think God is trying to speak?

I want to talk about anointing first because it is the catalyst of the subject.  I received a newsletter from John Garfield, author of Releasing Kings.  John was talking about his friend Duane who just returned from a ministry trip to the Philippines.  They conducted 3 two-day healing crusade meetings that had supernatural results.  They were anointed!!!  There were 1000 people who received Christ and hundeds healed.  Each morning the team prayed and sang together for 2-3 hours.  The Lord released multiple visions and prophetic direction. 

THE TEAM CAME EXPECTING BECAUSE OF PRAYER AND PRAISE, THE PEOPLE CAME EXPECTING BECAUSE OF FAITH. 

We should be like this team.  We should pray and praise and do our work expecting God to move.  All God wants is us to be a willing vessel, HE will do the rest. 

Relationships-  Life is all about relationships.  You meet people at work, school, organization, the grocery store, almost everywhere.  God has been showing us in the last couple of weeks that the Kingdom Business Journal will revolve around relationships.  God has created many divine appointments for us in the past, but many more are to come.  We started the KBJ Network as a Christian business network for the purpose of uniting people with like mind and like vision.  RELATIONSHIPS!!

Another friend, Dale Shumaker of Spirit Savvy Business,  sent me one of his latest book summaries . 

GET NOTICED…GET REFERRALS; RELATIONSHIPS ARE KING

This book Get Noticed… Get Referrals, by Jill Lublin lays out a very practical process for getting you into a very active lineage of referral relationships. 

Dale talks about the greatest power is released through our relationships with God through prayer and the same relationships we have with others committed to interaction in prayer as well.  Dale talks about ways we practice this people relationship with qualities of; loving others as ourselves, giving freely to others needs, forgiving when things go wrong, and tolerating what we can’t change.   

Let me give you an example.  I have a knack for being able to call people I have never met, introducing myself and have the opportunity to tell them about Kingdom Business Journal.  Many of our Tele-Seminars were booked that way.  I believe that these are divine appointments and that because of the anointing and Gods favor, they are now relationships.  Hallejuah!!!

Before you go to work or whatever you have planned for tomorrow, spend a few minutes in prayer and praise and ask God for the anointing on your relationships for the day.
