We attended the World View Weekend in Branson Missouri this weekend.
The Lane's In Branson Missouri at Table Rock Lake Dam
WOW! It was an awesome event and very informative. We were not really up to speed on all that has been going on in the world, but our eyes were open to many things.
The speakers were sharing information about what was going on in the world and backed all of it up with scripture. They had Dr. Youssef, Joel Rosenberg, Dr. David Reagan, Kay Arthur, David Barton, David Noebel, and hosted by Brannon Howse.
It was a ton of information and I need to go back and review all my notes in order to get the full impact of it all. If you are able to attend a Worldview Weekend, I would recommend it.
As a family we observed the last supper tonight at dinner.
We read in Matthew 26:14-30
14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver. 16 So from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.
Jesus Celebrates Passover with His Disciples
17 Now on the first day of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”
18 And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.”’”
19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.
20 When evening had come, He sat down with the twelve. 21 Now as they were eating, He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.”
22 And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him, “Lord, is it I?”
23 He answered and said, “He who dipped his hand with Me in the dish will betray Me. 24 The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.”
25 Then Judas, who was betraying Him, answered and said, “Rabbi, is it I?”
He said to him, “You have said it.”
Jesus Institutes the Lord’s Supper
26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed[b] and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”
27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 For this is My blood of the new[c] covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
30 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Then just as in vs 26 we ate the bread as a representation of his body and in 27 we drank the juice as a remembrance of his blood that was shed and covered my sins.
This was a wonderful experience and part of building legacy in my family.
As we celebrate this Easter we need to remember what Jesus went through and how much he loves us. Take a moment and watch this video, and then thank Jesus Christ for what he has done for us.

We lost out on our date night this Friday because I was in KC, so we went out tonight. Laura and I have been married coming up on 23 years this May. It is very nice having an 18 year old to babysit, and he is FREE. We feel that it is very important to take this time out for us, especially after spending the last 18 years raising children and with a 7 year old at least another 12+ years before we even think about being empty-nesters. We have to take time out to be Laura and Lowell, not Daddy and Mommy.
As a couple we have to work on our relationship and nurture it. If you and your spouse don’t have a weekly time to get away and be yourself, I highly recommend it.

If you are in business and especially if you are in a partnership, make sure you have time each week that you or you and your partner can get away and be yourself. Get away from the business. Turn off the cell phone, pager, e-mail, and just escape. It is a much better alternative than a psychiatrist, heart surgeon, or bankruptcy judge.

This is interesting. I decided to write about Surviving or Thriving, and so my wife decided she would also. Laura wrote the post before reading mine. Here is mine!
Last week at church someone asked, “How is business? You know there are a lot of people going out of business and cutting cost to survive!” We continued to talk and the next thing they said was,”but you know this is the time to advertise and get aggressive, when thing are bad.”
So, are you in survival mode or a Thriving and opportunity mode?
I am a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University Graduate, and I like what Dave Ramsey says, 
“I’m tired of hearing all the gloom and doom coming from the media about the economy and unemployment—I bet you are, too! Let’s take a minute to look at the true reality of the situation and what we can do about it.
Yes, many people have lost their jobs and houses. You may be one of them. But guess what? People have lost their jobs and houses even in a bull market. About 93% of people are still employed. That is pretty good! I was alive in the 1970s when unemployment hit double digits, and we’re nowhere near that right now! I’m not making light of the fact that some people are struggling; I’m just putting the situation in the proper perspective.
Even though you may be currently unemployed, that doesn’t mean you have to participate in the recession. People like me who have chosen to not participate acknowledge the reality of a slow economy and suffering people. However, we have decided that we’re not going to form our lives around the negativity coming out of the media and government. We’re intensifying our efforts and going to have the best year of our lives in spite of things slowing down.”
I side with Dave Ramsey, I choose not to participate. Yes I am aware of the problems that are going on with the economy, but this is the time for opportunity. When others are surviving and cutting all cost, others are thriving. People have asked me, “Isn’t it a bad time for you to be starting a New Shepherds Guide book”? My response is, that it is God’s book, God is building it, God called me to be a servant, and God will provide.
Let me give you an example of a direct sells company I am involved with. Saladmaster is a direct sales company with the finest product on the market in there industry. They looked at the market and found opportunity. They found that many people are eating at home and cutting back on eating out. Food prices are increasing and there product helps cut food cost. Many people are being health conscience and there product provides a healthy method of food preparation by eliminating oil and retaining nutrients. They also found that more and more people are looking to supplement there income.
Guess what! They have a are having record sales and they are hiring a lot of part-time people. They are making an opportunity out of the current condition.
So, are your going to make an opportunity out of the current condition? Take a look at your product and your market. Do some research. Are there hidden opportunities that you could take advantage of ?

Since the first of the year, God has made some awesome changes that I would like to share with you.
Over 7 years ago, GOD gave Rich the vision and plan for Kingdom Business Journal. Rich and I have put many hours into trying to build it to be what GOD wanted it to be. In the process, we lost site of GOD’S plan and inadvertently started trying to make it do or be what we wanted or needed it to be. We let US get in the way of what GOD was doing. Rich and I committed in October 2008 to get US out of the process and see what GOD wanted to do.

We are hearing from people all over the world who are hungry for these KINGDOM principles and our number one search or reference is KINGDOM BUSINESS.
GOD continues to give us DIVINE connections.
In the last year we have made dozens of connections with other Ministries and other ministers in the marketplace. We refer to these as DIVINE APPOINTMENTS. Since the first of the year, GOD has brought us several DIVINE APPOINTMENTS and it is awesome.
God is moving in the body of Christ. He is UNITING Christians and preparing a mighty ARMY for the Lord.

Let’s look at the question of, “Do God and Business go together”?
Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
God created it. God created us. God gave us wisdom. God gave us knowledge. God gave us thought process.
God gave us the ability to think through a process in order to create. God gave us the ability to create by using our hands.
God gave us the ability to have and create our businesses. You may have done the work, but God started the process.
My full time job is working for The Shepherds Guide Christian Yellow pages. We have a statement of failth that the owner of the business (or advertiser) has signed.
“I have received Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, and my desire is to live my life for His Glory. I have been born again, according to John 3:3 which states, “…except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.”
I pledge to hold the hightest Biblical code of ethics in my business transactions. It is my ambition to treat my clients with the utmost respect and integrity.”
I agree with this statement of faith and that is why I represent The Shepherds Guide.
I want to encourage you today to think about this. If you are a Christian and agree with this statement of faith, then the answer to the question above is, “YES”.
Now, I am not saying that you need to go to work and start preaching to your employees and customers.
What I am saying is, we need to live by this statement of faith and be an example. Your life and the way you conduct your business is the best form of witnessing you could possibly do. Employee’s and customers are watching everything you do and if you are doing things according to biblical principles, it will have ETERNAL benefits.
YES, GOD AND BUSINESS GO TOGETHER!

This is my son Matthew. Today is his 18th birthday. I can’t believe it. I can still remember the day he was born. It was a bitter cold day in Topeka, Kansas. I remember that the evening ended in a blizzard. His birth was an emergency C-section because he was breech. He was our miracle baby. Not only was he breech he also had the cord wrapped around his neck. Laura had beta strep and pre-eclampsia. The doctor told us we were very lucky and that we better enjoy him because we would not be able to have more.
It was really wild being new parents, but Laura remembers a baby crying in the nursery and she knew it was Matthew. The nurses could not calm him, but they brought him to Laura and immediately she started singing to him and he calmed down. In the womb Laura had sung to Matthew and wrote a song she sang to him. He still loves to have her sing his song to him.
I can’t believe he is 18, but he is a great boy and we love him with all our hearts.

Just the other day I was listening to John Maxwell ~ Winning with People. He was talking about our fears and how they can hinder us. Fear can be a very powerful and debilitating factor in your success.
I was talking with JD Buckridge and he was asked a simple question, but it opened a door I had locked. We were talking about a business I have and why I had not pursued it. JD said, ” you told me about your business and offered to talk to me about it, but I have not heard anymore about it, WHY?”
I did not know what to say, except ~ I don’t know.
There was something standing in the way, IT WAS FEAR!
Because of past failures, I was fearful of another failure. I was afraid of failing in my business because of other business failures, not this one. This one was mostly positive. My results in this business were, well AWESOME!
Andy Mason whos’ office is in the FREEDOM NOW business development center, was also able to help me. He is an emotional release coach. He was able to help me deal with releasing some of that past FEAR, and realize that it was standing in my way.
