On November 3, 2008 we had a fantastic night in Kansas City.   Why am I just now writing about it, because life has been crazy.

The Thurman Mitchell Leadership Celebration and the 2008 Passion Awards were held at the Overland Park Convention Center.

What a beautiful facility.

This is the entrance.

In the upper level the foyer area, some of the honored ministries had tables.

The Servant Christian Community Foundation held its 7th annual Thurman Mitchell Servant Leadership Celebration and the presentation of the 2008 Passion awards.

This was a 1st class event.

Great Dinner

Mr. William High is the President of Servant Christian Community Foundation and was the host for the evening.

This year’s “Passion Awards” theme was “Picture This,” and was based on Proverbs 29:18a, which reads, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Through proposals, ministries were given the opportunity to express what they believed God is doing in and through their ministries, and to share their “God- sized vision.”

Servant Christian Community Foundation received 110 proposals from a variety of local and national ministries. The proposals were reviewed and scored by an independent grants review committee. Once scored, the committee made personal visits to the top 49 scorers. Site-visit scores were added to written scores in order to identify the 24 “Passion Award” recipients.

I was truly blessed to see over 1000 people in attendance and that over 100 ministries were being represented.

Rich Forster                                  Rick Boxx                              Lowell Lane

Rich and I were blessed to meet a friend whom we have only spoken to on the phone, Rick Boxx of Integrity Resource Center in Kansas City.

This is one thing that I love, meeting other believers and connecting.

The Best part of the evening was the chance for Rich and I to have a night out with our wives.  We have not had a chance for the 4 of us to get together in a long time.

Tanner Forster                                      Rich                                 Vana

Rich’s son Tanner lives in Kansas City and met us at the awards.

It was a great night and what a blessing to be part of such an event.

If you have a ministry please visit Servant Christian Community Foundation and see about participating in next years event.

Be Blessed!
