Are you a salesperson? I remember when I used to do in-home demonstrations and in order to process a credit card I had to hand write the information then go to the office the next day and process it. Too often it was denied and then I had to contact the customer and ask for another form of payment. It would have been really nice to process it on the spot!

NOW I CAN! I found Square Register, a mobile app that allows me to process transactions as a cash sale, credit or debit sale, and it even will figure sales taxes.

I was able to go in and set up my business informaton with name and contact informaton and then enter all my products with prices and tax rates.

At each sale I just entered the amount, checked either cash, credit, or debit and processed it. I am even able to give a receipt to the client by e-mail. When I ran a debit card they are required to sign on my phone and then enter their email address in order to recieve the recept. At the end of the day I just looked at my transactions and I was able to calculate the amount of my sales for the day, on my phone. When I got home I pulled it up on the computer and went into my account and it even has a reporting feature that shows each sale, what was sold, how many sales were cash, credit, or debit, amount of sales tax collected, and even trends.

It is so cool.

They have 2 payment options. I chose the flat 2.75% of the sale, but If I had more volume then they have a fee for the year.

I encourage everyone to check this out!

I just returned from a two week teaching and ministering trip to Poland and Ukraine.  I went with a team of 4 marketplace leaders, ministers and teachers who are good friends of mine from the US and Denmark.  John Garfield was our designated leader with the teaching theme of “Releasing Kings”, which is also the title of his very excellent book.

John uses biblical scripture to encourage and evoke your hearts desire for life to become a reality for you.  A most amazing transition takes place in the hearts, minds and faces of believers when they realize they have God’s blessings to seek their hearts desire and that all things are possible with God. But the miracle making ingredient to the formula is to love people.  John proved that when he taught by loving the people every chance he got.  Most important however was that he really meant it.  People sensed it and reacted positively.

Combining your Divine call, your hearts desire and your ministry gifting all into one Godly, supernatural package empowers one to accomplish feats that here to for never even entered their minds.  I speak not of a New Age inner self realization of hidden energies and karma but of a Holy Spirit filled weapon of righteousness and love capable of doing all things in Christ Jesus.

The conference objective as well as the ultimate purpose for “Releasing Kings”, is to Have Fun.  Make Money.  Love People!  That’s exactly what we did,  except make money this time.  We did however encourage the attendees to use their dreams, gifts and calling to accomplish those three objectives while teaching them the fundamentals of doing business by biblical Kingdom principles in their families, the Marketplace, and in their churches.

The response after a few days of teaching and praying for people resulted in nearly 40 new salvations and numerous people deciding for the first times in their lives to pursue their business dreams.  We taught on attitude, business planning, sales, marketing, employee employer relations and finances required to start and run a successful business.

As usual while ministering to these success hungry saints, many signs and wonders of healing and deliverance followed those who believed just as the Mark wrote in his Gospel chapter 16, verses 15-18.  I can testify that I even prayed a serious sinus infection attack off myself by confessing and believing that scripture while on my way back on a 13 hour plane ride to the USA.

I come back and recollect and marvel at the faith and willingness those people have to believe for a better life in Jesus.  They have the faith to trust and try as the men of God teach and preach and great things are a result.  Not because of the men of God for sure, but for the humility, honor and obedience they offer the teacher as God’s prophet and therefore they receive a prophets reward.

We anxiously look forward to our return to those lands and see once more what God has in store for those who love Him for “eye has not seen, ear has not heard nor heart know the things which God has prepared for those that love Him.

Most of the men and women we minister to with KBJ are small business entrepreneurs and employees aspiring to be business owners.  I have observed a situation I think is more prevalent than any of us would like to admit and one that you need to ask yourself before it is a problem for you.  Because if it is a problem in your work or family, you must address it before it gets out of hand and creates a wedge in your relationships.  Once again it falls under the title of communication.  The need for honest, frequent communication is irreplaceable in all relationships but especially in family and work environments.

Here is the question.  Are you and your mate in agreement regarding your career and livelihood?  Are you both on the same page for your current and future plans as you can be today?  Maybe your not in total agreement but compromised towards a mutual end.  In either case, once you have decided your pathway,  your commitment to work together towards those goals in every way possible is critical for your success.

Many wedges can arise making this agreement short lived but the worse one is the blatant misuse of your tongue.  Male and female Christians alike seem ignorant to the scriptures that remind us that the power of the tongue has life and death.  That holding a grudge between each other and talking about it especiallyh to others has the same effect.

God made of each a little bit different.  Why will be a question for you to ask Him when the time is right.  But with many couples or partners in business together the reality is each can have a different attitude and belief about the same thing the partner does.  My wife for instance has struggled over the years living with an entrepreneur and dreamer with a overly positive attitude.  She is a more pragmatic, calculating planner who like things more definitive like the monthly budget!  Imagine that?  She actually wants to know how much money to budget each month for household expenses.  Oh, I’m in trouble now!!!!

My limited attempt to humor this subject in reality is a very sore subject with some of you reading this right now.  You may be like me or my dear wife and know exactly what I’m talking about.  The potential for this miss-communication or lack of can drive a serious negative wedge between you and your mate or business partner that can be devastating.

There is not an abundance of biblical scriptures addressing this specific issue but we can get pretty close.  What you will see is that ultimately communicating, coming to some compromised agreement and honoring and respecting each other is the only way to make these types of situations the best they can be.  I would include most importantly, praying for each other that the light of truth would always prevail in all that you do and say with each other.  After all, it’s the truth that sets you free.  Whether you win or loose, you do it together.  No blame.  No would of, could of, should of.  Take the situations or circumstances on together, work on a solution, then invest yourselves totally to that end and ultimate success.

THE ESSENCE OF COMPETITION

competition in business, excellence, fear of failure, number one, olympics, talents and gifts

Most everyone I know has a competitive streak in them.  For some,  winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.  Then for others, winning is perhaps at best a desire but definitely not the main objective of competition.

We most often associate competition in sports but in many facets of life one can feel the tingling sensation that is brought about as we strive to be the best.  Unfortunately competition can sometimes draw the worst out of people as well when jealousy and pride rear their ugly heads to distort the good healthy, friendly spirit of the contest.

This week, as the Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada begin, the ultimate example of competition is witnessed by us all as athletes from around the world have but this one opportunity to prove their supremacy in each of the individual contests.  It is always an exciting experience and the spectacle is full of beautiful pagentry to watch by us all.  But you can bet for sure that the participants are experiencing physical and emotional feelings that very few people ever will.  The pressure of this moment is a study of its own in psychological warefare and self confidence.

Business and sports are much alike in many ways but certainly the competitive aspect overshadows the other ways by far.  From the small town corner groceries to the global tech  and merchandise markets, competition energizes the participants, stimulates creativity and ultimately results in the greatest discoveries and inventions the mind can comprehend.

Watching the Olympics reminds me of a comment I heard many Olympics ago from and American cross country skiing competitor named Koch.  He was the odds on favorite to win 2 or 3 gold medals for the USA and consequently had a great deal of press following him every step of the way as he finished each race.  As circumstances sometimes happen, he finished the first race and didn’t medal.  When interviewed and asked why  he failed to win, he simply stated with a smile that he skiied the best he could that day but it  just wasn’t good enough to win a medal.  He none-the-less, was proud of his performance.

The next day another competition followed that Mr. Koch was favored to win and once again he failed to even medal.  The press was getting hungry for a story of unfair circumstance or cheating by the opponents that kept our man from winning.  But Mr. Koch explained once again that he felt he really gave it his best but just was out scored that day by someone better.

Finally the last competitive opportunity to win gold came about and the pressure was felt by the contestants and us viewers also.  The news media was focused on the race and a grueling one it was.  All throughout the heat, cameras stayed glued on Mr. Koch and his close competitors while multi-lingual dialog on their progress from the press corps was flowing from every news tent on property.

Finally the race was over.  Mr. Koch finished but did not win the gold medal in the race and consequently none of his events.  He continued to be inundated with questions as to why he failed to win gold when finally he stopped all inquiries with this one simple statement.  He said, “I did the best I could every race I was in.”  “The essence of competition isn’t always to be number one, but to strive for excellence.”  That is what I did!

In Daniel 6:3, Daniel distinguished himself above governors and satraps because of an “excellent spirit was in him.”  Jesus Himself urged us in Matthew 25:14-29 to recognize and use our talents and gifts or or loose them.  He didn’t say you had to be number one or loose them.  He expects us to develop them and use them for His honor and glory.  Think of it as His way of using you for ministry.

So today I release you from an fear of failure and expectation, and say to you in Jesus name.   “The essence of competition isn’t that you need to be number one,  but to always strive for excellence in all you do and you will receive  your just reward on earth and in heaven.

economic crash, focus, joy, Kingdom of God, motive, partner, peace, righteousness

I think we would all agree that in the “good times”, we are  likely to be less dependent upon God to bail us out of various and asundry messes we manage to get ourselves into.  All it takes today is a fairly major catastrophe , like our economic system collapse, to upset our equilibrium and balance and “help me Jesus and I promise I will never make that same mistake again as long as I live…..I think” .

Thanks to a forgiving, merciful and loving God, we get plenty of chances to do things over and get it right.  If your like me though, it seems like sometimes I lack the discipline to follow through with my well intentioned resolve.  So why is it that we forget so soon after our newly promised agreement is made and fall back into those same traps once again?  Maybe we have lossed our focus on a very important principle of life and business?

No matter what is is your seeking to resolve, a new job, starting a business or stewarding your financial budget plan better,  we often loose sight of what should be our top priority, “seeking first the Kingdom and His Righteousness, then all these things will be added to you,” Matt 6:33.  What is the Kingdom?  The Kingdom is Righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Ghost”, Rom. 14:17.  And where is the Kingdom of God?  It is within you, Luke17:21.

So check your motive and  focus first thing  if your in this pinch and retrace your steps back to your first love and top priority.  With righteousness, peace and the joy of the Holy Ghost, life just seems to be a lot easier to handle.  It’s a supernatural thing!  Getting on the same page with the Author and Finisher of our faith is a great place to be and He is an excellent Partner to have also, don’t you think?

The Battle Plan begins in your Mind

action, destiny, dreams, mentor, plan

We have a number of friends, brothers and sister in Christ, that have been negatively effected with this current economic debacle.  Some have lost six figured jobs and for others, they have yet to find gameful employment for over a year in some cases.  There are so many lessons for us to learn through the challenges of this fearful time that they are too numerous to list but surprisingly exciting for us at KBJ.  The reason they are exciting times is that our heart is to help the many who struggle in these times with a lack of business and/or job as we  possibly can with advice and practical business instruction while illuminating the spiritual parallel of that same principal as Jesus taught.   We believe too that it is especially important to encourage our fellow brothers and sisters with support to weather this battle with God like resolve and determination.

Today I just want to suggest one thing to those of you that are in this seemingly futile delimma, fearful and anxious, and so overwhelmed that you can’t see the forest through the trees.  There is no obstacle too large that it cannot be overcome with the ingenuity,  creativity and persistent resolve of a blood bought, mustard seed believing, child of the Living God.  It all begins practically with a plan of action.  In order to have or make a plan of action you must first understand and face your circumstances.   No matter how serious they sound, how bad they feel or how grim they appear, you need to thoroughly understand where you are in order to get where you want to go.  Once you face the truth of the situation, you can formulate a step by step plan that is attainable and celebrate every little victory you accomplish along the way.   Put your dreams back at the top of that list of goals, bathe the plan in prayer along with your fellow believers and present your plans to the Lord and they will succeed.  Now it’s time to take action.

It is a really helpful and a good idea to engage the help of a good friend, pastor or mentor to help you sort the truth from fiction from the start and along the way.  You don’t need to stress yourself anymore than you already may be but to measure your success you need goals or expectations along the way to measure progress and maintain your enthusiasm for positive action.

So in summary, gather all the facts, good and bad and understand them.  Then formulate a plan to solve the more serious circumstance first and the others as you progress.  Present this plan to the Lord and trust He will honor your commitment because it will be glory to Him.  Include your dreams and destiny back into your daily life.  Build in some little success benchmarks to measure your progress.  And always know, God loves you and will never let His righteous fail.  It just may take a little more time than is comfortable for you for Him to develope His Divine plan perfectly for you.  We at KBJ are believeing for you and prayfully look forward to your testimony of God’s deliverence of your situation and your new assignment.

We attended the World View Weekend in Branson Missouri this weekend.

The Lane's In Branson Missouri for Worldview Weekend

The Lane's In Branson Missouri at Table Rock Lake Dam

WOW! It was an awesome event and very informative. We were not really up to speed on all that has been going on in the world, but our eyes were open to many things.

The speakers were sharing  information about what was going on in the world and backed all of it up with scripture.  They had Dr. Youssef, Joel Rosenberg, Dr. David Reagan, Kay Arthur, David Barton, David Noebel, and hosted by Brannon Howse.

It was a ton of information and I need to go back and review all my notes in order to get the full impact of it all. If you are able to attend a Worldview Weekend, I would recommend it.

This is interesting.  I decided to write about Surviving or Thriving, and so my wife decided she would also.  Laura wrote the post before reading mine.  Here is mine!

Last week at church someone asked, “How is business? You know there are a lot of people going out of business and cutting cost to survive!”   We continued to talk and the next thing they said was,”but you know this is the time to advertise and get aggressive, when thing are bad.”

So, are you in survival mode or a Thriving and opportunity mode?

I am a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University Graduate, and I like what Dave Ramsey says,

“I’m tired of hearing all the gloom and doom coming from the media about the economy and unemployment—I bet you are, too! Let’s take a minute to look at the true reality of the situation and what we can do about it.

Yes, many people have lost their jobs and houses. You may be one of them. But guess what? People have lost their jobs and houses even in a bull market. About 93% of people are still employed. That is pretty good! I was alive in the 1970s when unemployment hit double digits, and we’re nowhere near that right now! I’m not making light of the fact that some people are struggling; I’m just putting the situation in the proper perspective.

Even though you may be currently unemployed, that doesn’t mean you have to participate in the recession. People like me who have chosen to not participate acknowledge the reality of a slow economy and suffering people. However, we have decided that we’re not going to form our lives around the negativity coming out of the media and government. We’re intensifying our efforts and going to have the best year of our lives in spite of things slowing down.”

I side with Dave Ramsey, I choose not to participate.  Yes I am aware of the problems that are going on with the economy, but this is the time for opportunity.  When others are surviving  and cutting all cost, others are thriving.  People have asked me, “Isn’t it a bad time for you to be starting a New Shepherds Guide book”?  My response is, that it is God’s book,  God is building it, God called me to be a servant, and God will provide.

Let me give you an example of a direct sells company I am involved with.  Saladmaster is a direct sales company with the finest product on the market in there industry. They looked at the market and found opportunity.  They found that many people are eating at home and cutting back on eating out.  Food prices are increasing and there product helps cut food cost.  Many people are being health conscience and there product provides a healthy method of food preparation by eliminating oil and retaining nutrients.  They also found that more and more people are looking to supplement there income.

Guess what!  They have a are having record sales and they are hiring a lot of part-time people.  They are making an opportunity out of the current condition.

So, are your going to make an opportunity out of the current condition?  Take a look at your product and your market.  Do some research.  Are there hidden opportunities that you could take advantage of ?

CHOOSE NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RECESSION!

CHOOSE TO THRIVE, NOT SURVIVE!

Just the other day I was listening to John Maxwell ~ Winning with People.   He was talking about our fears and how they can hinder us.  Fear can be a very powerful and debilitating factor in your success.

I was talking with JD Buckridge and he was asked a simple question, but it opened a door I had locked.   We were talking about a business I have and why I had not pursued it.   JD said, ” you told me about your business and offered to talk to me about it, but I have not heard anymore about it,  WHY?”

I did not know what to say, except ~ I don’t know.

There was something standing in the way,  IT WAS FEAR!

Because of past failures, I was fearful of another failure.  I was afraid of failing in my business because of other business failures,  not this one.  This one was mostly positive.   My results in this business were, well AWESOME!

Andy Mason whos’ office is in the FREEDOM NOW business development center, was also able to help me.   He is an emotional release coach.   He was able to help me deal with releasing some of that past FEAR, and realize that it was standing in my way.

Thanks Guys!

Does something  stand  in your way but, you are not sure what it is?  It makes you feel anxious,  sick at your stomach,  not worthy,  or numerous other feeling,   IT MAY BE FEAR!
